Here’s a First Look at Renee French’s SPX 2014 Program Cover Art
The reigning queen of the cuddly, yet sinister, side-eye!
A special guest of SPX this year, renee-french has been making comics that revel in the killer side of cute and the horrors that lie within and without since the early 90s.
Renee is set to debut her latest book at SPX 2014, Baby Bjornstrand, from koyamapress which details the misadventures Mickey, Marcel and Cyril with an undeniably adorable, and mysteriously menacing monster.

There have been some amazing SPX program covers before, but this may be my favorite.

Big SPX Post!
It’s almost here! The Small Press Expo will be happening again at the Bethesda Marriott this weekend, September 13th and 14th. Czap Books is honored once again with being able to exhibit.
You’ll be able to find us in good company at Table W50. I’ll be joined at our table by Matt Czap., whose Eat That Toast collection is our big show debut, and Ignatz nominee Cathy G. Johnson, who will debut a new comic of her own, called “Dear Amanda.” I (Kevin Czap) will have a new mini comic called “Lyric Sheet,” which continues the Fütchi Perf series I’ve been working on.
Though she won’t be in attendance (and sorely missed by us all), Liz Suburbia will still step correct with the brand new Cyanide Milkshake #6! You’ve all been waiting for this one. And and Jessi Zabarsky will be debuting the second issue of her outstanding Witch Light series with us.
There’s more, of course. We’re continuing to promote the new PUPPYTEETH 4, featuring comics by Laura Knetzger (who you can find at SPX, Table D4A), Jess Wheelock, Jenn Lisa, Paula Almeida and Jon Gott. On top of all this, we’re now selling comics for MJ Robinson.
To break it down for you again, here are the books we’ll be debuting or have new since last year’s SPX:
We’re also lucky to be bumping elbows with table neighbors and earth shattering talents Jeremy Sorese and Jonathan Bell Wolfe (Table 49B) (and legendary Keith Knight!! - 49A)
So many more of our friends will be scattered throughout the show, including Kat Verhoeven (Table A1B) whose Towerkind is up for the Outstanding Series Ignatz.
SPX is much too large to fully encapsulate in a tumblr post like this, so you will just have to go and take it all in. Remember, come get a hug from us at Table W50!
See you soon,

Some of my favorite SPX people!

BOOK BUDDIES ASSEMBLE!
Here’s a map of where I’ll be at SPX next weekend! I’m tabling with Kenan Rubenstein and Jason Viola at table C8, and right next to us will be Cara Bean at one half of table C9.
Ignatz Nominee & all around good guy, Sam Sharpe will be right around the corner at table C7.  There are about a mazillion other people who are amazing comics artists Kenan and I could have added to this map, but as you can see, our icons are covering up half the map.
Carve out your weekend for September 13 & 14th, and visit the Small Press Expo in N. Bethesda.  It’ll totally blow yer mynd.

Here is a comic that Rebecca wrote (and I drew) for Heart Farts, an anthology with badgigi that will debut next week at spx!

Tony Breed is doing a poster for SPromX (prom at SPX?!!) So I drew myself dancing.  If dancing with a bunch of nerds and dorks isn’t incentive enough to drop what you’re doing September 13 & 14th and coming to Bethesda, MD…well, maybe I don’t want to know you.
